Roberto Capodieci

Roberto's love affair with computers and computer technologies began at the young age of five.

At the age of 13, he founded Mega Computer Mania, a club for IT enthusiasts, where he developed protocols for VHF radio packet data transmissions as well as systems for radio-controlled robots.

In 1990, the Italian started his first company, Akropolys, and began working on computer programming. Roberto was only 15 years old and would only obtain his diploma in computer programming, software analysis and database analysis a year later, from the Instituto Meccanografico Veneto (IMV) in Italy.

Akropolys became a group after four years of business, when it was split into seven different companies to concentrate on different computer technology areas. In 1995, while as a partner of the Akropolys group, Roberto started RCX s.r.l., a software house and security-consulting firm where he developed OptiCut software for optimizing marble cutting.

Then two significant events happened to the young man.

From 1995 to 1997, Roberto was a consultant to the Attorney's Office in Venice and the Italian Anti-Drug unit, where he developed software applications to co-ordinate data originated by investigative operations. His software enabled work to be completed in three months instead of the previous estimated time of three years.

At the same time, he was also the consultant for IT security for the FBI at the White House. While working in support of fighting child abuse and pedophile pornography through the web, Roberto assisted the FBI with their investigation of a million-dollar fraud on the web. President Bill Clinton commended him for his efforts.

In 2001, Roberto supervised and managed the start-up of Avrion s.r.l. in Milan, a joint venture between two well-known Italian IT companies, SYN S.p.A. and Evolutiva s.r.l., in 2001. Besides hiring the management team and program developers, he also closed Avrion's first sale for a project that generated work for over a year .

At the end of 2001, Roberto set up Milan-based Blu Horse s.r.l. with two other partners. As the company's software development manager, he handled projects for secure Internet servers and client-server applications. The company then set up an office in Florida, USA at the end of 2003.

From 2004 onwards, Roberto provided professional expertise on Information Security matters to companies in Italy as a freelance IT security consultant. Then, sensing the economic opportunities and challenges that Asia offered, Roberto decided to relocate to Bali , where he set up Barefoot Multimedia. His command of several languages – Italian, English, French, and Spanish – has stood him in good stead when communicating with global clients.
